Welcome to our Journey!

I'm so excited to have you embarking with us in this very important journey. Homeschool is a great responsibility that I am determine to accept and give my best to this endeavor.

Many people when I tell them I will homeschool my kids ask me Why😕? There are 3 main reasons even though I only tell them one😉 and I will explain here:

1. I want to do it: there are 2 things I always wanted (since I was a teenager), have 4 kids and be their teacher in many ways. I didn't know about homeschooling yet because in my country (Peru) there is not homeschooling option but being the last child gave me the time to spent  time very close to my mom. She taught me many things that were advanced for my age that I could go straight to first grade before I was 5 years old.  I thought I could do the same with my kids when I had them and I sure did when I had my first baby. I loved it and so she did!

2. I want to be more involved in their education: As I said previously,  I'm Peruvian and probably what many of you would call old school. Putting together both things and comparing to what my kids are getting here at public school is not what I want for them. In my experience:

• I haven't seen notebooks from them until the end of school year. (How can I know about what they are learning and how to help them if I don't see a topic or examples written in their notebooks until the end of the year? Newsletters are not helpful enough, just saying the topic of the week is not the same as seeing the notes or examples the teacher has for them

 

• At the end of the year I only see one writing notebook. (English is a language that is hard to learn how to spell unless you see and write a word many times. If kids don't write more keeping notes ...as the old days teachers writing on the board the class and kids writing it on their notebooks they will not have enough practice and you end up seeing adults with mistakes such as there (meaning they're) or the worst in "my opinion" should of (instead of should HAVE or should've) Why don't they dictate or have the kids write on language arts, math or science? about the topics they are learning.
  

3.   I want to take advantage of them being kids at home because I know They will grow up so fast and I want to make sure I had them enough. I love them so much!!! 

I'm excited about this journey and so are the kids. I will be uploading more about it... not so often since I usually don't get the time to post many things online.
